saakaciweeyankwi is the annual Myaamia (Miami Nation of Indiana) language and culture summer camp for tribal youth ages 9–16, created to strengthen language revitalization, cultural identity, and community connection among the next generation of Miami leaders. Through immersive language learning, cultural teachings, tours of historical locations, and activities such as a kayak trip, campers build meaningful connections to their heritage while helping ensure that Myaamia language and traditions continue to thrive for future generations. The 2026 camp will be held at the Koinonia Environmental and Retreat Center in Pierceton, Indiana, on the same schedule as the Miami History Workshop for adults (occurring in Peru, IN), creating a unique opportunity for Miami families and community members of all ages to engage in learning, cultural preservation, and community building together. MNI members interested in learning more about the history of the Miami Nation of Indiana and our recent efforts to build and digitize the MNI Archives are invited to sign up for a 3 day workshop.  Dr. Ashley Glassburn will share and answer questions about MNI history and archives.  Folks will learn about how they can help with our archival efforts, go on a tour of Miami cemeteries in the region, and learn some Miami songs and dances.  This camp runs parallel to the youth camp so that families coming to visit from out of town can participate in both.

The workshop will run roughly 9am-5pm each day.  The cost of the workshop is $40 and includes daily lunch and a closing community dinner on Wednesday.  There will be optional group dinners, side trips, and cultural events in the evenings.  You will need to arrange your own lodging nearby, but there will be an option for people to share an Airbnb who are interested. MNI artists of all sorts are invited to join a 3 day Miami arts workshop.  We will spend those days viewing and talking about historic Miami art and design principles.  Introductory language lessons will teach artists a bit more about understanding and representing a Miami worldview.  Special workshops will be offered to connect contemporary art to the art-design needs of the Miami Nation today.  Bring your sketchbooks and notebooks.  This workshop will be more about artists getting to know each other and learning together, rather than making original art on site.  Registration is required.
