All Nations Gathering (May/June)

The All Nations Gathering is an educational version of a powwow. The Gathering hosts Miami and guest drums, dances, and vendors. Occurring annually on the first weekend in June, it is the only event where the public is invited to our tribal lands near Raccoon Lake/Rockville, Indiana (45 minutes west of Indianapolis).

What the public can expect:

  • Plan to come for a few hours

  • Rain or shine, we are outside!

  • Feel free to join in the dances where it is specified that everyone is invited

  • There will be food and drink vendors, offering food typically found at Indigenous gatherings

  • The schedule of the day will be laid out in a program

  • Vendors will be selling beaded jewelry, clothing, trade beads, and books

  • Guests from the public will be invited to donate to the Honor Fund to support ongoing cultural reclamation

  • Prepare for limited cell phone coverage and bring cash

Days at the Pillars (End of August)

Miami Heritage Days at The Pillars was an idea from Tribal Councilman Vince Knauff and began in 2014. It is a local learning and educational weekend at the Seven Pillars for the public to be made aware of Miami history, experience our culture first-hand, and enjoy fellowship with the Miami people. Most years, the tribe sets up Wikiamis, the Longhouse, and has tribal booths with food and merchandise from participating members of the Miami Nation of Indiana. The Drum Group provides drumming, singing, and dancing.

What the public can expect:

  • A relaxed, outdoor event with Miami programming and vendors

  • Riverside relaxation across from the Seven Pillars, a site closed to the public the rest of the year

  • Food vendors offering Fry Bread—including in desserts and tacos!

  • Prepare for limited cell phone service and bring cash
