Woman's Council
The Indiana Miami Woman's Council was formed in 2004 by Erin Dunngagn, Mary Tippmann, and Sarah Siders in order to encourage participation from Miami women, children, and spouses. This is the first woman's group organized within the Miami tribe for a number of years. The council's main objective is teaching Miami women, children, and spouses Miami traditions, cultrue, and history while encouraging fellowship. Much of the Miami history and tradition has been lost through the generations, and the council gives the opportunity to regain those treasured aspects of Miami way of life. Any Miami woman, daughter, or wife/mother is eligible to participate on the council.
Past projects of the Indiana Miami Woman's Council include sending gift baskets to our Miami's overseas, running a Fry Bread booth at the event at Billie Creek Village, and hosting classes for making shawls and chokers.
Any Miami woman, daughter, or wife/mother should contact Erin Oliver or Sarah Siders at the Tribal office (765-473-9631).
