PRIDE OF THE MIAMI AWARD

In 2007, the Indiana Supreme Court contacted MNI for permission to create the "Pride of the Miami" award, honoring an extraordinary employee who goes out of their way to contribute an act of self-sacrifice, humanitarianism, and exhibits care for the children, young people, adults, and elders, assisting them in any way possible.

Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard requested the presence of Vice-Chief John Dunnagan to present the award to this year's winner, Jenny  Bauer, an attorney for the Judicial Center under the Supreme Court of Indiana.

Jenny's mother suffered from genetic poly cystic kidney disease, and Jenny was the only plausible donor. Mrs. Bauer's kidney function had dropped to 13%. She was very weak, and her body was filled with toxins. In December of 2006, Jenny donated one of her kidney's to her mother. The transplant returned Mrs. Bauer's health, and she is now doing better than the doctors had expected, and they are very pleased with her progress.

The Miami Nation of Indiana greatly recognizes and appreciates Jenny Bauer's strength, courage, and her ability to care for her elders.

L-R: Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard, Jenny Bauer, Vice-Chief John Dunnagan, Mrs. Bauer, Jenny's Sister, her niece Claire, and Mr. Bauer.
